Soak up the scores and then I'll go into celebration mode at the end of the post.....
Last time viewing these... parting is such sweet sorrow.
Relive the action from the final day!
Congrats to the hosts on their bronze medal win!
Meet the Champions!
Please welcome Captain Corey Perry to the prestigious Triple Gold Club! Perry won the Olympic gold medal (s) in 2010 and 2014, the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, and now the gold medal for the World Championship!
Also, happy Victoria day to all the Canadians! There are two great reasons to celebrate today and I think today should be changed to Victory day instead! Enjoy winning because it's the best thing in the world!
Tomorrow is the semifinals for the tournament and I hope that you will be able to watch! The first game is host country Russia versus undefeated Finland and the last game is Canada against the U.S. in their first late tournament game since 1991 (as we mentioned in the earlier post)!
NOTE: All times are in Pacific Standard Time.
Congrats to the four deserving teams who made it to Quarterfinals! This is obviously not an easy feat because they are among the best in the entire world!
Quarterfinals begin on Saturday morning (May 21st!) Only two will move on for the gold medal and the other two will duel for the bronze..
In case you missed the power rankings from the last time, here are the newest!!
IIIHF Semifinals Scores and Highlights
Except for the U.S. and Czech game, the games today were mostly one sided. The teams who were eliminated still need to develop more and soon they can become even better in the global rankings.
Enjoy all the best action from every game today!
IT'S THE LAST DAY OF THE PRELIMINARY ROUND!! REMEMBER THIS TIME BECAUSE IT'S THE MOST SIMPLE AND LESS FRUSTRATING PART OF THE TOURNAMENT! Okay.. Yelling aside, I want to wish your team the best of luck tomorrow and even more luck into the upcoming rounds.
In case you need them for tomorrow, here are the current standings!
Day 11 Scores and Highlights
Not much of a surprise here... but at least Canada won on Captain Corey Perry's birthday!! Birthdays are always fun especially if you have won!
Might as well show the birthday boy's game today! A goal, assist, and a win sound like the best birthday presents you could get!
France had so many great opportunities in this game! Canada continues to dominate in this tournament and we can all see why!
Second to last day of the preliminary round! Scramble and panic!
Or not because your team is probably fine unless they're at the bottom.... Anyways, good luck to your team tomorrow!
Also, feel free to reference these standings for tomorrow and find out if you need to freak out or not!*
*Again, you are probably fine! You got this!
Including Day 10, we have 3 more days left of the preliminary round and this is what's going on tomorrow.
Here are the standings* (before Day 10)
*Bottom 2 teams face relegation.
Also, the IIHF released another list of power rankings and snicker along with pleasure!
Good news for Russian fans (sorry Caps fans), Ovechkin returned today! Here's what happened!
Hurray for both Canada and Latvia today!!!!
Just a little steam..
P.S. The sight of this makes me very upset and I'm sorry if you have to deal with this also. I wish we could all watch hockey in peace but I guess not...
But here's what we can watch on YouTube!
This is great because we've reached Day 8! On Friday, it will already be a week since the start of the tournament. As usual, Canada is on a roll and leads with the best scoring efficiency. Russia is doing well as the host country and soon Ovechkin will join them, which is dangerous. Both of those teams have tomorrow off but the teams that are playing have solid programs, including the Czechs who shut out Norway yesterday (see below). Tomorrow is still a great day to watch!
*pssst, new rankings have been released!*
Day 7 Scores and Highlights
I'm feeling nice today so I will give you highlights of every game today! Enjoy!!
Another game, another destiny! We are sort of in the halfway point in the preliminary rounds but we are almost past it. Hopefully your team is moving on to the next rounds and will not face relegation (we'll talk more about that later). Here is what the beautiful day of May 11th bestows you:
More Power Rankings! I like the sarcasm in these especially for the United States. Ouch! Remember that these are from IIHF.com and they are not official. These are someone else's opinion.
Day 5 Scores and Highlights
DAHM!!! (Once you watch the video, you'll be saying the same thing too!)
Welcome back!!! I hope you are enjoying the tournament because this is an annual treat. Here's what's going on today/tomorrow morning:
Day 4 Scores
O Canada, at least let them leave with some dignity! Canada is on a complete terror right now probably because they were robbed in the World Juniors, Women's Worlds, and NHL Playoffs! At least a Canadian team won the draft lottery but that's the best news so far for Canadian hockey....
**I added video highlights from the YouTube channel!!! So proud of this!! Please enjoy!**
One century of this game and League is a wonderful milestone to celebrate. Let's hope to do this in the next century!
