Quote of the Day: "Finally we scored more than one goal. They have a really good power play, but we prepared well for that, and that's why we won." -Katerina Mrazova, Czech Republic. Yesterday's Scores:NO games today but here's what to expect tomorrow: Czech Republic's chance to stay in the tournament Canada vs. Finland Rematch Russia vs. Sweden Classification Game Germany's biggest test vs. U.S. Videos:Miss the action right now? Here's some reminders of why everything is irreplaceable. What time is it? Playoff time! We won't see our friends, USA and Canada, but they play tomorrow! Good news is that we will see a great rivalry game with Finland and Sweden and then see the tournament underdog Germany take on Russia. There is no shortage of excitement today with all teams playing at their best. Quote of the Day: "We're a confident team. We needed to believe in ourselves and just go out and play hockey, and it showed." -Meghan Agosta, Canada. Today's Action:Yesterday's Scores:Quote of the Day: “I’ve played with the senior team a couple of times and they decided to take me to the Worlds this time [after being on the U18 Team this January], I’ll do my best. It’s a lot faster. The game is smarter, and the players have so much more experience. It’s much harder to play. You have to think faster and be more aggressive.” -Tabea Botthof, Germany. Today's Action:This week's edition involves broken records, March's Rookie of the Month, returns from injury, big games, and much more! Enjoy all the updates on whether you will see these players longer than the first week of April or not. Jake GuentzelGuentzel scored his 12th goal in 36 games after missing four games due to a concussion. March was a good month for him as he scored 5 goals and had 6 assists in 12 games. Playoff Picture: Pittsburgh clinched and they hold the third spot in the Metropolitan. Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Trio The gift that keeps on giving. Mitch MarnerMarner made history this week by breaking the record for most assists by a Leafs rookie with his 41st assist on a goal by James van Riemsdyk that opened up the scoring in Toronto's 3-1 win over Nashville. During the second period in last night's win over Detroit, all three rookies scored and Marner now has 18 goals this season. Marner was named Second Star of the Game after snapping his 9 game goalless streak. Auston MatthewsFour goals in three games this week? That'll sure get you on top of the all-time goal scoring list for Leafs rookies and lead the rookies in scoring (66) and goals (38). Matthews was named First Star of the Game for all three games vs. Florida, Nashville, and Detroit. William NylanderNylander won his second Rookie of the Month award for his 12 game point streak (4 G, 10 A), the longest for any Maple Leafs rookie in their 100 years of existence. Not only was this point streak great for rookies, but it was also tied for the best streak this season. Nylander edged out Sebastian Aho, Guentzel, Matt Murray, and Zach Werenski. He scored his final assist on Tuesday vs. Florida. Last night, he scored his 22nd goal to start the month off. Playoff Picture: Toronto is hanging onto their spot in the second wild card in the East while being right behind Boston for the last spot in the Atlantic. This next week is crucial for them to win every game and hope that Boston loses some along the way. Christian DvorakIn the Yotes' big win over the Capitals last night, one star emerged out of all the 6 goals scored by the team. Dvorak's amazing two goal performance, that had both of them unassisted, earned him First Star of the Game. Dvorak also had one assist on Wednesday and now has 31 points (14 G, 17 A) for the season. Draft Picture: Unless Vancouver does not win any games for the rest of the season and Arizona wins three out of the next four games, then they will not finish in last place in the Pacific. They definitely will have to draft well this year and hope for the best again. Brady SkjeiRemember last week when we wished Skjei a happy 23rd birthday? Well, he got himself a nice present that day and scored his 5th goal of the season! Skjei then continued the festivities and had 3 assists two days later, because some people prefer to celebrate their birthday weeks instead only celebrating it on one day. Skjei also had 10 hits in 3 games this week, so he's been very active on the blueline as well. Playoff Picture: Skjei and the Rangers clinched their spot in the playoffs and will play as a wild card team vs. the no. 2 seed in the East. Matthew TkachukTkachuk netted his 34th assist on Friday vs. San Jose. Tkachuk is fourth among rookies for assists and sixth in scoring. The big news for Tkachuk is not involved with his play-making ability, but his more physical style of playing that has very much angered Los Angeles and began a newly fueled rivalry. Tkachuk had SEVEN penalty minutes against Los Angeles on Wednesday, including unsportsmanlike conduct and a fight. Los Angeles also had a penalty for roughing against him, so their feelings are strong and mutual. If you want action and drama, just watch Tkachuk play Los Angeles and all your wants are satisfied. Playoff Picture: Calgary is back in the playoffs again after being in the Draft Lottery last year! Does this newfound confidence have to do with Tkachuk coming along? Maybe a little. At this time, Calgary has a spot in the wild card but could take the last spot in the Pacific. Watch your fins, Sharks. Highlights: The entire Tkachuk drama in three videos: Quote of the Day: "This [win against Canada] is huge, especially for the younger players. We've been close before, but just close. Now we've done it. We know we can do it again." -Noora Raty, Finland Yesterday's Scores:*Canada had not lost to a team other than the U.S. in IIHF competition until yesterday. No games today but instead please enjoy some photos. Quote of the Day: "We were the promoted team from last year, so we're definitely the underdogs. Still, we came here to play our best hockey in every game. Both our goalies have been great so far, but we have to be honest and say that today's game didn't go as we wanted. They had way more shots, but the result is good, so we're happy." -Julia Zorn, Germany Today's Action:Yesterday's Scores:Check out Germany with that upset from yesterday! And then go back to the top and see them win again! Looks like a decently strong start for Germany in this tourmanent which is great for a country known for its soccer players. Keep it going and keep surprising everyone!
