Today is the last day the Edmonton Oilers will play at their long time home since 1974. In this building Wayne Gretzky began his legendary career with the Oilers. In this building, they won 5 Stanley Cups in 6 years (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990). This building holds many memories and today is a special day to all hockey fans. We say goodbye to a legendary place that hosted many icons. Photos appear from the Instagram accounts of NHL and Edmonton Oilers.
Three new teams joined the fun last night! Please welcome Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, and Minnesota Wild to the playoffs.
*The Florida Panthers clinched their division last night so I guess you can call it the 'Catlantic'! Important updates to remember for today include:
Who will win the gold? Canada or the United States? Stay tuned for that and the winner of the bronze medal match! Congratulations to Sweden on winning yesterday and placing fifth in the tournament. Also, congratulations to Switzerland for winning the second relegation game and staying in future division I tournaments. Best of luck to Japan in future tournaments!
Major congratulations to the United States on their gold medal! Great job to all teams in the tournament and I hope that they make their country proud of their womens' teams. Great job to Team Russia on their bronze medal win! Fantastic job to the champions of the tournament! The U.S. was undefeated the entire tournament!
There definitely needs to be new updates on the playoffs because some more teams have clinched since I last posted about the playoffs. Most of them were Western teams but pretty soon the Eastern teams will come in! The race is definitely closer and tougher out there! So... Who's In?* |
ThoughtOne century of this game and League is a wonderful milestone to celebrate. Let's hope to do this in the next century! Archives
