In honour of today's game between the two neighbouring Atlantic teams, the question today is: Who is more consistent when they play each other: Toronto or Buffalo?Steps: 1) Find the mean of their goals scored in the past 10 games. Toronto's Mean: 2.8 Buffalo's Mean: 2.8 2) Subtract values from the mean. Toronto's Mean Average Distance: 0 Buffalo's Mean Average Distance: 0.56 3) Then find the Standard Deviation and whoever has the lowest is considered more consistent! Toronto's Standard Deviation: 1.23 Buffalo's Standard Deviation: 1.81 ConclusionLooks like Toronto barely edged out Buffalo for this one but I do not think the comparison is fair. Buffalo's 6 goal game on Nov. 15, 2014 definitely skewed their data a bit with the Mean Average Distance being just a bit larger than Toronto's. I did check and 6 goals is not an official outlier, so they did not win that one either.
Both teams have been closely-matched in the past and I think that today will not be any different. Toronto looks much better right now but Buffalo is still willing to challenge them. Hoping all of you can watch it tonight at 7 pm ET! Leave a Reply. |
