"I'm trying not to cry thinking about it [but] For some reason, [something] told me to grab my medals, my [1988 Olympic women's doubles] gold medal [and 1988 bronze singles medal]... And Maya Angelou and John Biggers did a book and I knew that both were dead and I would never be able to get them back. Something told me to go back and get them." -Zina Garrison, ON hurricane Harvey. “I was thinking about [my celebration] on the court: ‘If I win, what would I do if I won? Hey, maybe I should throw the racket and scream or something.’ But then when I actually won, I didn’t do anything. So I was kind of sad about that. Especially since this is something when you’re little you dream about: playing on Arthur Ashe against a great champion.” -Naomi Osaka What will she be doing in the next few months? "I don't think you ever really get too used to what the occasion of a World Cup final is; It's special." -Sarah Hunter "It means the world to me [to win the dawn staley Leadership award]. To be honest, I've been trying to win that award the past five years, It means a lot. I put my heart and passion back in my community, and the community in D.C. as well. I have a passion for kids and love putting smiles on their faces. I'm here to use the game of basketball to inspire people to do really great things. If I can be an inspiration to a kid to never give up, that's what I'm going to do the rest of my life." -Ivory Latta This week's edition will spotlight home runs (again!) but instead of focusing on one player, we will look at them as a whole. There will be no simulations but only graphs to show the differences over the years. Thought that Aaron Judge's 496-ft. home run was the biggest moonshot you have ever seen? Well, it is one of the farthest in 10 seasons, but it is close to some from the past. Also, before Aaron Judge, there was Adam Dunn, who also was known for great home runs and strikeout rates, so he wins this round.
Hopefully this was a fun way to look at home runs! See you next week, baseball fans! *These totals were taken on Friday at 12 pm PT, so data may be different today.
"If I just let go and relax and enjoy the moment, I have a pleasant dive. If you can choose peace, it's a way better experience." -Kerry Hollowell "I was shocked [that people don't know that native americans still exist]. Like, what? That's crazy, It kind of motivates me to show that, 'Yeah. We're still here, and we can do anything everybody else can do, and we can do it better if we need to.'" -Kyannah Grant "Just being able to do what I love every single day, not for the rest of my life, I can't say that, but for a very long time, Competing at these tournaments is what I love so much, and to be able to do that for a very long time, I'm so excited." -Cici Bellis "I just thought [doing wrestling] was so ironic. So many times throughout my life I tried so hard to make things work with track or with CrossFit. All the pieces were just coming together, and I had to go for it. This is for me. This has to be for me. There's no way that all of this is lining up perfectly." -Bianca Blair |
AuthorHi, I'm Jenna and I'm a sports fan! I've been avidly watching sports since 2011 because I found that by watching sports, I would be able to communicate with my dad and brother better. Ever since I got into sports, I've been able to enjoy myself more when I go to sporting events with my family. Archives
