No baseball today?! What ever shall we do???! O, woe is me! Might as well watch some videos to hold ourselves over. Starting with...
Goodnight to those on the West Coast and good morning to those waking up in the East Coast or Midwest!
Fell asleep before the game ended? That's okay! We have you covered! Tonight was a diluted version of last night basically. Still big hits from Russell and errors from the Dodgers but not as horrific. They really are cleaning up their act but they still did some things that cost them runs. In their defense, Chapman did look very passive in the 9th when he was supposed to be intense and close out the game. His performance is why the Dodgers got up to 4 runs and fared better than yesterday. Takeaways from tonight: Rizzo is still hitting which is great news for Cubs fans and bad news for the Dodgers. Russell is a new unlikely hero. The Dodgers bullpen needs to get it together. Toles did much better tonight than last night. Kershaw is getting ready for his next and most important battle (They showed him doing shadow pitching). And the American League Team that gets home field advantage in the World Series is.......... THE CLEVELAND INDIANS! A storybook year for Cleveland just keeps getting better. The city that was sad after losing its closest hope of a major title in the summer of '15 has completely turned around in the summer of '16 and continues to win in the fall. Who would've thought? Did both Corey Kluber and Francisco Lindor know that they were playing to be in Cleveland for Game 7 of the World Series back in July at the All Star Game? Not sure if they could track all of their meteoric rise in baseball. They definitely knew they were special when they took over the Central and here they are! What a way to wake a sleeping bear. We saw some rare spectacles tonight: an Addison Russell home run and an Anthony Rizzo one. Did we ever think that this would happen coming into tonight? Russell absolutely shocked because he was batting .042 before this game and was 3 for 5 tonight. A three-hit night makes a huge difference because now he's at .214. And we didn't forget about Rizzo! This guy was struggling because we are used to seeing the hero from the regular season but this postseason he is not the player we knew then. Rizzo also went 3 for 5 and is now at .250 (it was previously .077!) Nothing can stop them, they're all the way up! Farewell to the JaysDear Toronto,
This city is absolutely wonderful and deserves only the best. I am so sorry what happened today. You do not deserve this exit. I enjoyed watching this team take down the Orioles and Rangers in the most Toronto-like fashion with home runs and Donaldson slides. We will miss the colorful personality of the team and the other teams' reactions towards it. No one bat flips better than this team. No one. This team is so unique compared to others because it has an entire country backing them. No other team has that fan base. We will miss you greatly and best of luck in the offseason. Go Jays! Well, it was not Cleveland's lucky day.. Oh well. They're still winning anyways. And we remain in Toronto for another day... The Blue Jays will not allow themselves to lose the series at home because they can't let those fans down. Tomorrow should be a test for both teams because Indians have not lost until today. Will Cleveland rock or will the North rule tomorrow? Unlucky day for Cubs but more than lucky day for Dodgers.
Is today unlucky?! Don't worry, Indians and Cubs! Luck is overrated... and so are curses... Could this be the night?! The clincher?! Will Cleveland take the early exit from Toronto and await their opponent in the National League?! Is this everything that Believeland is about?! Or will the views from the Six become another playoff game and the place can still enjoy baseball and complain about the Leafs later. The tough part of the rotation vs. Rich Hill. Hill needs to look out because this guy hit a home run off of Madison Bumgarner. If you don't know how hard that is, it's about as equivalent as Bumgarner and Puig actually fighting each other. They always get so close but everyone intereferes right away. If he can give up a home run in the postseason, he can fight Puig soon!
Anyways, the Cubs do not like to lose more than once. It's a sickness if they lose three times in a row which they don't do. Losing is a curse to them. Yes, the curse will not be forgotten this year. We finished partying at Napoli's and will run through the Six with our W's! Or if you want to be technical, we are running through the Six with Stro! Drake needs to do what LeBron did for his team if he wants to keep watching them. Too bad he's busy with important priorities...
Absolute pitchers' duel tonight! Offensive HighlightYep. There's only a need for one highlight on the offensive side of the game. I mean, five hits and an error?! Come on! That's actually pretty good for both teams defensively. Random HighlightChicago is also home to a winning hockey team and they decided to stop by and give the Cubs some of their championship magic from the past couple of years. Enjoy!
