Good afternoon!! Tonight will be a beautiful night for a baseball game since both the Rams and Bears have finished their games today! We have the day off in the American League but the party never stops because baseball gets to be in Chicago tonight! Definitely watch for Fowler offensively today because he could have a big day, unless Kershaw figures him out first. If he does, we always have his beautiful defense to watch. Ahhhh. So beautiful. This obviously was not from last night but I thought this throwback of last night's heroes meeting up is a nice irony. Watch for Andrew Toles for sure. He pretty much came out of nowhere in the regular season but he has made a great case as to why he should be on the postseason roster. He knows how to hit at the right time and being in front of Kershaw can help because Kershaw is usally able to get on base and if he gets the right hit, Toles will use all effort to score. I mean, he did knock over Kris Bryant last night (check previous post for the action shot!).
Happy LCS time!! I know we miss the four teams that we had to say goodbye to in the previous week but we will not feature them for this (sorry!). Instead we get to say hello to the winners! Cleveland IndiansToronto Blue JaysChicago CubsLos Angeles DodgersWhat a Saturday! If you live in the Midwest, then you're having a blast! But if your team wears blue and plays in a big city (not in the Midwest!) then you're hoping for a turnaround. Even if your team did not win tonight, it still was a good night for baseball. For those who are just along for the ride and do not have their team left in the playoffs, this was still a great night. Remember back in Game 2 of the ALDS when LeBron came and the Indians won? Yeah. That happened again. Cleveland: *Keeps on inviting LeBron to every game* Where to begin?!
The Cubs have it ALL. Offense and defense and just the right amount of magic. A Miguel Montero grand slam in the eighth?! What are the odds?!!!!?! I guess we need to give some credit to the Dodgers for keeping up and tying them in the eighth (We see you, Adrian González!). But the defense really did it all by preventing any more damage in the inning and only letting it be tied instead of giving Los Angeles the lead. Little did they know who would be the hero of the game at that time... National LeagueMaedaNotes: Rizzo was surprisingly quiet in the NLDS (.067 AVG) but he still should not be disregarded because he is Anthony Rizzo. I would suspect that once he does wake up in the playoffs, the Dodgers will be in for a rude awakening. Also, look out for the Cubs' pitching when it comes to hitting because we have seen them rake. LesterNotes: Justin Turner is on fire like his hair (*unnecessary red head joke*). Seriously, a guy with a .400 AVG and a league high OBP of .591 should not be taken lightly. Everyone else comes and goes with offense, but Turner is the consistent threat. American League**With a bit of Canadian. HappTomlinHere we go!!!!! The Six takes on The Land!!! Pitching MatchupsExcited to see Klubet vs. Estrada? I sure am! Though I will miss the wild crowds of Toronto, I definitely am impressed by the amounts of people that show up for Indians games now.
Cleveland fans are humble people because they are not used to success like this and they hesistate to get super loud because it could go away in an instant. Thankfully, LeBron took the pressure off the Indians and gave the people what they deserved but it would be great to see both the basketball and baseball team win it all in the same year... I would be fine with either team in the World Series though because I love their cities and people. What. A. Game. Everything was so wild as the game went on because the managers decided that this was the perfect night to find any combination possible to win. Oh my goodness. If I had a dollar for every pitching change... I could afford tickets to the NLCS in Los Angeles (it's probably too expensive in Chicago). I cannot believe some of the things I saw tonight. Jansen pitching for almost three innings??! That was his career high pitches!! And then he was saved by... Clayton Kershaw who pitched on short rest on Tuesday??! And then he saved the game?! What. If that wasn't postseason baseball, I don't know what is. Farewell, Nationals. We will miss you making baseball fun again and have to rely on only the Indians, Blue Jays, Cubs, and Dodgers to make it fun. How sad.
We will also miss Mad Max doing his thing and dominating like always. We will also miss your wonderful rookie, Trea Turner, who will hopefully do amazing things for the team in the future. It may be a long shot for him to win Rookie of the Year, but he will continue to make this team great. Also, we will miss Daniel Murphy making the Mets angry that they ever let him go. Keep doing your thing, Nationals. Someday your moment will come. Welcome to the official final day of the National League Division Series! Whoever wins this one will do something that their franchise is not used to doing (more so on the Nationals side) which is moving to the next round! It's only been since 2013 for the Dodgers but it feels like it's been a longer time. Don't even get me started on the Nationals... instead we will show you both teams' postseason history. Hmmm... 1981 looks familiar. Now to the actual game! Do we know the starter for the Dodgers? Not yet.
No baseball today. I know. I'm sad too. We can get through this. Just watch these videos to get yourself ready for tomorrow's game in Washington. "Better late than never??" -me. Ouch. Great game for Nationals! But the Dodgers?? I will just leave it there. OH. MY. GOSH. THIS. IS. POSTSEASON. BASEBALL. Main thoughts: Mad Bum gave up his scoreless streak to Jake Arrieta???!! Who walks someone before Kris Bryant in the NINTH?! (Looking at you, Romo) Connor Gillaspie!! JOE PANIK. Boston, we will sorely miss you because you brought us joy in the form of David Ortiz. Ortiz was a unique player and we are sad to see him go. We know that you are more sad but we still wish you the very best. Remember that you have a great team that includes young talent (Mookie, Xander, Jackie, etc.) and you can only go up from there! Things will lighten up because this team has MVP-worthy players! Boston is a beautiful city, so there's always that! Oh, and the Patriots! |
