"Ultimately my goal all along has been to be a race engineer on a Cup team, and to get that shot ... your college, beating down the door to try to get in and getting in, it's like, 'Whoa, I finally made it'. It is a very good feeling." -Andrea Mueller "At home in Riga when I am there I try and go ballroom dancing four times a week... It really helps with the footwork on the court. My favourite dance? The Samba, of course." -Jelena Ostapenko, winner of the French Open. For the (maybe?) final edition of the stats for the Stanley Cup, we will go over if either team likes playing at home better than away and if they happen to be streaky at all. This is definitely important because neither team was able to win on the road so far in the series and whoever wins their road game, wins the Stanley Cup (unless the Penguins lose in Nashville and then win in Pittsburgh). Nashville Predators Home Winning Percentage: 90% Away Winning Percentage: 45.4% Difference: 44.6% Home Ice Advantage: None found Streaks of Three or More: 1 In the simulation, they were not found to be a streaky team because they were predicted to have streaks less than ot higher than 3 about 51 times out of 100. Pittsburgh Penguins Home Winning Percentage: 76.9% Away Winning Percentage: 45.4% Difference: 31.5% Home Ice Advantage: None found Streaks of Three or More: 3 In the simulation, they were not found to be a streaky team because they were predicted to have that amount of streaks 55 times out of 100. You would think that a team with a 90% winning percentage at home would give them an advantage, but their p-value was not small enough for that. Oh well. Pittsburgh has a chance to lower it tomorrow!
"People kind of gravitate to the twin thing [and] I've said this before, but I feel bad for people who don't have twins because it's so fun." -Lexi Weeks "I think I stand out. When I was younger, eight years old, one of my teammates, who I’m friends with, he made this comment after I struck out, he said: 'You strike out all the time.' But he strikes out too, all the guys strike out, but because I’m a girl it’s more noticeable. So, if I were to have a bad game, I’d have a spotlight on me because I’m a girl, and people will just say 'Oh, she shouldn’t be playing.' I think that will be the biggest thing. But I’m not too worried about it." -Claire Eccles "I'm trying to get people to be happy and enjoy dance [again]. A lot of dancers lose that [joy] because of the competition in the industry or because they get jaded after working for a long time." -Galen Hooks "IT'S NOT OKAY TO TELL SOMEONE that HE IS UGLY. No more than to tell a girl that her muscles are ugly." -Michele Letendre "I could hear my name being shouted the whole way. I suppose I'm a legacy, at least that's what they say." -Harriette Thompson "I was trained to be like the boys, if not better. People say that men can do it better, but that's not true. ['WONDER WOMAN'] portrays that." -Caitlin Dechelle, WONDER WOMAN'S STUNT DOUBLE. "I've been saying this whole week, you can't expect different results if you keep doing the same things. I went out there by myself and done different things. I am a new fighter. I am a new Claudia..." -Claudia Gadelha |
AuthorHi, I'm Jenna and I'm a sports fan! I've been avidly watching sports since 2011 because I found that by watching sports, I would be able to communicate with my dad and brother better. Ever since I got into sports, I've been able to enjoy myself more when I go to sporting events with my family. Archives
