What. A. Game. Everything was so wild as the game went on because the managers decided that this was the perfect night to find any combination possible to win. Oh my goodness. If I had a dollar for every pitching change... I could afford tickets to the NLCS in Los Angeles (it's probably too expensive in Chicago). I cannot believe some of the things I saw tonight. Jansen pitching for almost three innings??! That was his career high pitches!! And then he was saved by... Clayton Kershaw who pitched on short rest on Tuesday??! And then he saved the game?! What. If that wasn't postseason baseball, I don't know what is. Farewell, Nationals. We will miss you making baseball fun again and have to rely on only the Indians, Blue Jays, Cubs, and Dodgers to make it fun. How sad.
We will also miss Mad Max doing his thing and dominating like always. We will also miss your wonderful rookie, Trea Turner, who will hopefully do amazing things for the team in the future. It may be a long shot for him to win Rookie of the Year, but he will continue to make this team great. Also, we will miss Daniel Murphy making the Mets angry that they ever let him go. Keep doing your thing, Nationals. Someday your moment will come. Welcome to the official final day of the National League Division Series! Whoever wins this one will do something that their franchise is not used to doing (more so on the Nationals side) which is moving to the next round! It's only been since 2013 for the Dodgers but it feels like it's been a longer time. Don't even get me started on the Nationals... instead we will show you both teams' postseason history. Hmmm... 1981 looks familiar. Now to the actual game! Do we know the starter for the Dodgers? Not yet.
No baseball today. I know. I'm sad too. We can get through this. Just watch these videos to get yourself ready for tomorrow's game in Washington. "Better late than never??" -me. Ouch. Great game for Nationals! But the Dodgers?? I will just leave it there. OH. MY. GOSH. THIS. IS. POSTSEASON. BASEBALL. Main thoughts: Mad Bum gave up his scoreless streak to Jake Arrieta???!! Who walks someone before Kris Bryant in the NINTH?! (Looking at you, Romo) Connor Gillaspie!! JOE PANIK. Boston, we will sorely miss you because you brought us joy in the form of David Ortiz. Ortiz was a unique player and we are sad to see him go. We know that you are more sad but we still wish you the very best. Remember that you have a great team that includes young talent (Mookie, Xander, Jackie, etc.) and you can only go up from there! Things will lighten up because this team has MVP-worthy players! Boston is a beautiful city, so there's always that! Oh, and the Patriots! Big day today! We found out which team stayed alive (and it wasn't the one that most thought would...) and now we will get to see a 5 game series! Oh my! This game had its ups and downs (Dodgers were doing well until Kershaw got tired and went back to his postseason form..) but it ended on a good note for Los Angeles as Jansen went back to what made him an All Star this year and the offense clicked at the right time. Since both teams have shown so much fight, they will be rewarded with an all or nothing game on Thursday! I believe the pitchers will be Scherzer (for sure) vs. Hill (speculation but I heard it on FS1!). Good luck to both teams! Clutch win for Cubs (go break that curse!) but devastating loss for Giants. Everything was great until that bullpen happened. Ugh. We'll see the Cubs again on October 15th. Here's the part where we get all somber and say goodbye to another team.
It's so sad that we have to say farewell to a dynasty that died too soon. Long live Connor Gillaspie for his spectacular feats in this postseason. We hope that he will still have a special place at AT & T park because he deserves it more than anyone else. Matt Moore also deserves some love too because he turned out to be a great surprise for the Giants. For a team that struggled so much in the second half, they transformed in the postseason. They were much different on offense and that was why they deserved to be there. We will miss the heart of the Giants, we will miss Madison Bumgarner in the postseason because no one compares to him, we will miss everything about this team. So sad to see them go. Three games today (as long as we don't have any other weather delays... it never rains in California, so we are mostly good). Will the Cubs advance today? Will Ortiz play his final game at Fenway or do the magic and play another there? Will the Dodgers or Nationals take the lead? We find out today! Clean Slate: This is Maeda's postseason debut and first time facing the Nationals. Let's see how this goes! Will this be the final 'Sweet Caroline'? What kind of magic will we see today?
Ooh!! A tied series?! This is unlike anything we have seen so far in the playoffs! See you in Los Angeles tomorrow at 4 pm ET! Leave it to Toronto to move on in dramatic fashion. Extra innings? No problem. Walkoffs? Coming right up. Goodbye to the RangersEnjoy this video to lighten up your spirits after tonight!
It was a pleasure watching this team dominate all season long and we are sad to see them be the first to go. Here's to an offseason that can help the team figure out what they need to do to get further. We wish you the best, Texas! Not ONE, Not TWO, but THREE games today! What a gift since we only got one present yesterday and we're greedy little children who love baseball at its best. We have one big unanswered question: Will the Nationals fall behind 0-2 like every other series? Or will they get over this hill and make it even (yes the hill part is intentional)? UPDATE: Cleveland and Boston are postponed to Monday at 6 pm ET. Wake up, West Coast!! Your Dodgers are on!! California does not know how to properly respond to rain because it never rains in California. Ever. This whole idea of a game being postponed a day and forcing both teams to have a tighter traveling schedule (they fly to LA right after for tomorrow's game!) is new to those who do not experience weather. Do you think Boston will allow Cleveland to go to the ALCS?? Do they think they will allow Ortiz to end it today? Oh my. Those are some crazy thoughts. I read that the Rangers were the only team that could take on the Cubs in Sports Illustrated. They could, maybe, but they are close to elimination by the Blue Jays so that statement could become irrelevant. Ouch.
It is always relevant to have this during the most exciting time in baseball! Enjoy some great photos from each series! Blue Jays vs. RangersIndians vs. Red SoxCubs vs. GiantsDodgers vs. NationalsHappy new day! The title is singular because a game was postponed!!! I did not see that coming... oops... I even shared a projected line up but I guess that is useful for day 4. Anyways, two great teams still played on Saturday and they were able to take center stage. Put Samardzija in the starting rotation they said... Well, Samardzija was not the one who made it 5-2 because he did not give up the home run to relief pitcher Travis Wood (it's been a LONG time since a relief pitcher has done that in the playoffs, 1924 to be exact... not as long as 108 years but still long). Next GameGiants face elimination... again.
This time they finally come home to the place where they swept the Dodgers last. Sweet memories. Meanwhile the Cubs still have a great bullpen (that hits!!!!) and prove why they were the best in the National League. |
