Congrats to the four deserving teams who made it to Quarterfinals! This is obviously not an easy feat because they are among the best in the entire world! Quarterfinals begin on Saturday morning (May 21st!) Only two will move on for the gold medal and the other two will duel for the bronze.. In case you missed the power rankings from the last time, here are the newest!! IIIHF Semifinals Scores and HighlightsExcept for the U.S. and Czech game, the games today were mostly one sided. The teams who were eliminated still need to develop more and soon they can become even better in the global rankings. Enjoy all the best action from every game today! Don't forget that tomorrow is the start of the semifinals of the tournament!!! The streaming times are below but only your country is available for you to watch (I know, I dislike that a lot!).* *NOTE: Times are Pacific Standard Time, so the East Coast can watch the U.S. at 9:15 am instead of 6:15!
And with that, the preliminary round has concluded! The only surprise here is the fact that Canada suffered their first loss of the tournament. This past year the Fins have given the Canadians a tough time in hockey. Both will not face each other in the first round of the playoffs (more on that later) but they may have a future match up... And here's the last of the power rankings for the preliminary round... these will be missed, unless we see them in the playoffs! Might as well show all of the best from today! Enjoy the best goals and saves from the last day! Playoff FormatPlayoffs begin Thursday!
IT'S THE LAST DAY OF THE PRELIMINARY ROUND!! REMEMBER THIS TIME BECAUSE IT'S THE MOST SIMPLE AND LESS FRUSTRATING PART OF THE TOURNAMENT! Okay.. Yelling aside, I want to wish your team the best of luck tomorrow and even more luck into the upcoming rounds. In case you need them for tomorrow, here are the current standings! Day 11 Scores and HighlightsNot much of a surprise here... but at least Canada won on Captain Corey Perry's birthday!! Birthdays are always fun especially if you have won! Might as well show the birthday boy's game today! A goal, assist, and a win sound like the best birthday presents you could get! France had so many great opportunities in this game! Canada continues to dominate in this tournament and we can all see why!
Second to last day of the preliminary round! Scramble and panic! Or not because your team is probably fine unless they're at the bottom.... Anyways, good luck to your team tomorrow! Also, feel free to reference these standings for tomorrow and find out if you need to freak out or not!* *Again, you are probably fine! You got this!
Wow! Today was a good day for hockey! Most of these games were close (with an obvious exception, sorry!) and the Swedes even won in a shootout! The addition of more NHL players to teams has helped them out greatly; just ask Sweden. If it weren't for Burakovsky being out of the playoffs, they wouldn't have his sweet shootout goal. They could've won without him but he is a crucial key in their quest for gold. Including Day 10, we have 3 more days left of the preliminary round and this is what's going on tomorrow. Here are the standings* (before Day 10) *Bottom 2 teams face relegation. Also, the IIHF released another list of power rankings and snicker along with pleasure!
Good news for Russian fans (sorry Caps fans), Ovechkin returned today! Here's what happened! UPDATED SCORES Hurray for both Canada and Latvia today!!!! Just a little steam..P.S. The sight of this makes me very upset and I'm sorry if you have to deal with this also. I wish we could all watch hockey in peace but I guess not... But here's what we can watch on YouTube! The next few days are crucial into which country will move on or go to relegation (no!!). Since the games will be on Saturday morning, here is the schedule for tomorrow and the times for each YouTube stream! Please watch and support your country! *NOTE* Times may be in Pacific Standard Time, so move ahead 3 hours if on the East Coast and so on from there. Day 8 Scores and HighlightsThe San Jose Sharks are advancing to the Western Conference Final after a 5 year wait! The Sharks defeated Nashville in San Jose in a 5 goal shutout. The team managed to stay together throughout the trials of their series against Nashville and even pulled through after losing Game 6. Good luck to them in St. Louis!
P.S. Sorry to Nashville for tonight's loss. They did very well in the playoffs this year and proved that they deserved to be there. Best of luck in the off season! |
ThoughtOne century of this game and League is a wonderful milestone to celebrate. Let's hope to do this in the next century! Archives
