We're starting to hit trade season and now your favorite teams at the top get new faces and your teams in the bottom say goodbye to old favorites. This time of year is exciting in how you realize how serious a deep postseason run could be for your team in what they decide to do, buy or sell. Also, this time of year is sad in how some of your beloved players from years of supporting your team head on elsewhere. Today's edition showcases the wonderful East and all its good teams. The Braves are still just below .500 but they still have a chance at being better. While the AL is one tough race with Boston and New York fighting for first and Tampa Bay not backing down. This will be one great wild card playoff game. P.S. It's never too early to talk about hockey, so I hope you enjoy the special guest of some awesome hockey players here!! It's only been since Friday since baseball resumed from the festivities and already some good things are happening in the Wild West. It's still a one-team domination in the AL while the NL is becoming just that. Let's enjoy some good moments from two dominant teams and those who follow in their path. With the All-Star break coming tomorrow, it's officially our last day of the first half of the season. So, let's look back on the Central before things close up. Who would've expected that the Brewers and the Twins would be the leaders in the Central? Both teams are holding their good starts from April, which shows that they are serious contenders. Now, the second half is still long and gruelling but they already have a good start that other teams lacked. Maybe the Cubs can get themselves together by the time the second half since the first half has only been mediocre for them. They still have last year's key players and they very much could be back in the postseason, so don't count them out just yet. Speaking of last year's World Series, how about the Indians? They are very similar to the Cubs in how they are doing just enough to compete with their division. They still could turn on the jets and then find themselves in the postseason and beyond, but they will face tougher competition (especially in the East). The Central may look much more different by the time the season ends, but for now let's cherish what it looks like for these teams. Who knows, we may laugh at this someday. Hello and welcome to the month of July! As much as I hate to say it and think it, this is getting closer to the midpoint of the season. The All Star Game is coming soon and we get to find out the selections soon. June was a big month in terms of power hitting and excitement for the game. This month alone saw 1,070 home runs, the most for one month in Major League Baseball. That is a cause for celebration after some of those home runs came from multihomer games from rookies and veterans alike or even walkoff wins. Maybe July will offer us something new with trade deadlines coming up and the always great All Star Game. The floor is yours, July. Welcome to the Best Coast, where three teams in the National League are fighting for three playoff spots already and the best team in the MLB resides in the American League. Things are looking up for this part of baseball and it cannot be more exciting. Happy Father's Day to everyone! Hope you all go out to a ball game or just enjoy the day with someone you love. This week features the Central Division and goes in order of their standings. What is interesting about the Central right now is that the Brewers are leading it in the National League. Many would have predicted them being in last place, but the Reds occupy that place instead while the Pirates are in second to last. Maybe the magic from the Stanley Cup can help them this year? For the American League, Minnesota is still tied for first with Cleveland. Again, Minnesota has been another surprise in the Midwest and they have not slowed down yet. Cleveland is a surprise in how they have not been dominating much this year, but Chicago has that issue as well. They have the talent to turn it around and they are not too far down the standings to panic completely. It's still the first half of baseball and they have ways to go to get back to the postseason and go on another run. Hope you are all enjoying the weekend and saw some good games! Also, I hope that you vote for the All Star Game and get your favorite players in or those who really deserve it! This week's photos provide a snapshot into the East and if you want to vote for players there, here's what life is like for them. The photos also go in order of their current standing for each league. What a way to wrap a wonderful week in the West! Grand slams are being hit to reach a milestone while teams are starting to get hotter as well as the temperatures. We are now in June and have passed by two great months of baseball! Season is flying right now, so it's our job to savor it. Welcome back to another week of baseball in May! This week was eventful with some teams going across the coasts and facing the crazy time zones to play some ball and then some. This week also included Mr. Derek Jeter finally receiving his plaque in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium. Moments like those are what make baseball so great. Here are some photos that review this week in baseball for the East: |
