Could Kershaw finish it out and take the Dodgers to the World Series or could Jake Arrieta save the season for the Cubs and keep the repeat championship dream alive?
Chicago's season is on the line tonight while the series between New York and Houston is heating up. Today will not disappoint.
Time for the Cubs to get revenge at home and for the Yankees to tie it up at home! Home field advantage is working but maybe that will change tonight.
Pitchers:
Charlie Morton (4.15 ERA) vs. CC Sabathia (3.72) Notes: Both have only no-decisions in their postseason starts this year. Morton loves the fastball while Sabathia is a slider type of guy. Yankees are 2-0 at home this postseason and average 4 runs each game at home. ALCS begins today in Houston as New York continues their big quest from the Wild Card game to here. Masahiro Tanaka takes the mound for the Yankees against Dallas Keuchel for the Astros. Tanaka was solid in his first postseason start where he gave up only three hits and no runs. Keuchel is very similar stats-wise but only gave up one run instead. Should be a good game but these pitchers may face challenges from both offenses tonight. The Cubs and Dodgers rematch starts tomorrow!
The Nationals have a chance to exorcise their playoff demons tonight against the Cubs at home. They showed fight yesterday and could have a good chance of moving forward but it all depends on the Cubs and their starter Kyle Hendricks. Will they face the same match up as last year? Or will the Nationals face the team that took them out in the NLDS last year? Last night was a shocker to see Cleveland knocked out of the playoffs already. All hopes for a World Series rematch are over and it's time for a new chapter. They had a great season and they should remember that but they did not end the best way that they could have.
Best of luck to New York as they go to Houston! Thanks to the Cubs and their rain delay, we now have two games today. We could also have two teams move forward if the Nationals allow that.
And then there were four teams that are still left to play in the Division Series! It's tough saying goodbye to two teams in one day, but the Red Sox and Diamondbacks were laid to rest in their homes. It was sad for them yesterday but they were beaten by the two regular season powerhouses so it could have been expected.
Today we only have one game to watch because the Dodgers wanted to win yesterday. Tomorrow will be interesting with a Game 5 in Cleveland against New York. |
