I definitely should be talking more about this because I have been following this like a mad dog. This is what happens when your team does not win their division! National LeagueEnjoy your rest: Giants play Rockies tomorrow and both Mets and Cardinals lost their games today. American LeagueNote: Mariners are in extra innings with the Astros.
Hello and this is our second to last time doing this in the regular season! Time flies whether we like it or not...
I am sad to see all these teams go but playoff baseball is exciting and we will see for sure the Rangers, Red Sox, and Nationals, along with the Cubs but that was last week's news. The AL East is still going strong because the Red Sox did not clinch their division due to actual competition making it more interesting for them (not calling out the other divisions but I may or may not actually be doing that..) While we had happy news of playoffs, we also received tragic news this morning. We lost the young and great Marlins pitcher José Fernandez to a boating accident. It is such a tragedy because he was already the star for the team's rotation but he was taken away so quickly that we never got to see him do more. He will definitely be missed because besides being a great pitcher, he was also a great person. His personality put everyone's elses to shame because it outshone everyone's in the room. I hope his family will be okay after this because he was very family-oriented. That's all for now. Hello!!
Welcome to another fun week that reminded us why we love baseball! We know for sure ONE team that will be in the playoffs in October (rhymes with Dubs...) We still are not sure on which teams will come out alive in the Wild Cards and the AL East! The Wild Card was designed for close teams but the East has taken it over on the American League! Teams like the Tigers have quietly improved this season but we are unable to see them in the front of the Wild Card because the competition a few states away (and one country) is killing them. Hope to see good things for that team in the future. It is also lovely to see Cleveland do so well because it was just last year that they were towards the bottom and could not sell out their stadium even if LeBron made a special appearance (okay, maybe then people would have came because they still go to Browns games). Lastly, this month is Hispanic Heritage Month and it is important because great amount of the best players in the MLB are Hispanic. We hope you celebrate this month and honour all those who are proud to be Hispanic. Hello, everyone!!
Out on the West, the baseball is crazy and weird! The National League West is still a crazy race even though there's a bigger gap but the Giants are actually winning now. And then the Dodgers lost on Friday, but won yesterday. Speaking of the Dodgers, remember Andre Ethier? I know it has been a long time, but he is healthy and back on the team. Oh, and some random pitcher named Clayton Kershaw (I think?) returned on Friday. Now, the American League has been the Rangers show and will probably stay that way (9.5 games tells me they have a good lead.). The division has not been top notch all year but it has shown promise. Both Seattle and Houston are close to finding the right teams to go to the playoffs, but Seattle is not exactly there yet. Houston could take it away from the Rangers, but they need a major choke because the Rangers are playing the Angels right now. Happy September everyone!
This is a lovely time because of September call ups and expanding rosters. Be prepared to see numerous Major League debuts from the stars of tomorrow (or next season!). Always pay attention to these names because some of the rookies fighting for Rookie of the Year were called up in this month last season. There's still more Olympic love to go around and some of my personal favourites are featured here. I was very happy to see Laurie Hernandez nail her first pitch and it was great to see Helen Maroulis be honoured because she deserves it all. Enjoy the beginning of the last full month in baseball and try not to lose your head over the divisional races, especially the AL East. |
